Working for us as a live-in carer
We are one of Londons’ most trustworthy and reliable care providers, providing a number of quality care services throughout Greater London. We pride ourselves on ensuring we have a great team of people around us and encourage them to learn and improve themselves every day.
Here’s what just a few of our staff have said:
“The care coordinators do their best in allocating the rota to suit my availability, and they make sure to match carer and client on a level that’s more than just superficial.”
Kiera, Health Care Assistant since 2015
“The work culture at ANA is great, I’ve worked here for 2 years and I have never felt like I was being taken advantage of or disrespected.”
Michelle, Live-in Carer
“I’ve worked at ANA for 5 years and it was a truly one of the most welcoming places someone could have the pleasure to work at, If I hadn’t moved house I might have stayed for 5 more years!”
Richard, former care co-ordinator
What is it like working as a live-in carer?
To work in live-in care, you will need to be kind and patient, compassionate and open to a variety of new experiences because you’ll be looking after clients in their own home providing, among other things, companionship, housekeeping, elderly and personal care services.
Previous home help experience is preferred, but if you have the aptitude for a career as a live-in care assistant and you pass our selection process we will provide all the training you need in-house.
If you’re already an experienced carer or nurse, we also provide a range of accredited and non-accredited training courses to help you continue with your professional development.
The types of things you would be expected to do will vary with each person to care for but general tasks include:
- Personal support – including bathing and dressing.
- Nursing – including injections and giving medication.
- Housekeeping – including cleaning and cooking.
- Administration – including paying bills and banking.
- Recreation – including shopping and accompanying you on walks
Training as a live-in carer
All successful candidates must participate in our Induction training and assessment. They must then ‘shadow’ an experienced carer until they are signed off as being competent. Last but not least they have to complete the care Certificate.
We actively encourage all our care assistants to study towards QCF training in Health and Social Care to ensure that their skills and knowledge are constantly updated. Currently, more than 70% of them are doing just that with the help of our in-house training team who run regular study days.
