Specialist home support for those with Parkinson’s disease – we understand what you’re going through.
Around 10,000 people a year* are diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in the UK alone, with symptoms ranging from tremors to muscular stiffness or memory loss. This neurological illness affects different people in different ways, and that is a major challenge for those responsible for the care of a loved one with this condition.
ANA Nursing offers specialist care in the home for anyone with Parkinson’s disease. Our carers and nurses are fully trained to recognise the unique needs of each new client and to adapt to their specific requirements.
On top of the standard housekeeping, social and administrative duties they can perform, each carer sent to a client with Parkinson’s disease can also assist with:
- Exercise – To improve mobility and muscle strength while reducing stress. Something as simple as a walk a day, light exercise in the home or a trip to a dance, swimming or gym class can make all the difference.
- Medication – The timing of medication is often essential to the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.
- Diet – The effectiveness of some drug treatments can be influenced by diet, therefore additional precautions need to be taken when preparing meals. Also one of the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease is weight fluctuation, so the right balance needs to be struck in any diet.
- Appointments – Doctors and specialists will need to be visited from time to time to monitor the effectiveness of treatment.
